This is a fabulous cookbook that I don't think any kitchen should be without. It discusses virtually every kind of food and how to prepare it. Included are detailed illustrations showing how things are folded or made. Lots of color illustrations, unfaded. This book feels as though it was rarely used, and has no notes. The binding is orange and a basic table of contents is on the front board, along with a black design and small illustration. The page edges are decorated with speckles. There are finger notches along the side of the book in many major categories, including Soups and Bread, Fish and Seafood, Quick Dinners, Pies and Pastries and so forth. The extensive index is 66 pages. I grew up using an older version of this book and between that and my mother, I became a good cook, and an especially good baker. There is light wear on the spine ends from sitting on a shelf, and very light wear on the corners. ; B&W and Color Illustrations; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 1,040 pages
