The book begins with information on the astro-archeological work done at Stonehenge itself. He makes a study of the enormous ancient drawings in the Peruvian desert, the Nasca lines that can be appreciated only from the air. Hawkins and his associates explore Machu Picchu and its temple. The activities of the mound builders of the United States are explored, some of which are oriented toward the sun. He looks at Mayan ruins in Central America, makes astro-surveys of the temple of Karnak and the temple of Amon-Ra where the pharaoh made his sun observations. Other temples are also reviewed. His assumption is that anything which shows today as clearly astronomical was known in antiquity to the builders. He digs into many myths and legends concerned with ancient civilations which still have reference in the modern world. Includes 50 drawings and more than 50 plates. Includes an index. Black cloth, jacket has some chips at the spine top and one on the front near the spine; also a 1/2" tear at the bottom back near the inner fold. ; B&W Photographs; Oblong Small 4to 9" - 11" tall; 319 pages
