This exhibit was originally conceived and shown at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Working with the Dallas Museum of Art, they developed a long-term loan of the many Egyptian articles that Boston had no space to show. This catalog is a reprint of the Boston show, containing additional color images included in the Dallas exhibit. The topic embraces a broad spectrum of Egyptian life, and the Egyptians' beliefs about death and the dead. Through the study of actual mummies we can learn their ages at death, their medical and dental histories, and the diseases from which they suffered. By extension, the study of burials and tomb chapels, the art and architecture of tombs, and accompanying burial equipment provide the scholar with a rich and rewarding trove of information. 276 pages including an index, bibliography and abbreviations. Well illustrated, 8 pages of color. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
