#18 in the series. The jacket shows volumes to #17, The Rainbow Riddle. Judy is married in this chapter book. Her husband is an FBI agent and they are carrying for Roberta, the daughter of a sea captain who seems to care more about the sea than is own llittle daughter. The mystery appears to center around a portrait of a girl that is hanging in the living room. Purchased at an auction, Peter had never liked it, and Roberta spoke to it as though it were real. The binding is orange with small brown scene in the bottom corner; the lettering is brown. The ffep is brown and white, with a path leading up to a creepy-looking house. The jacket has a 1" rub mark on the front of the spine, near the end. Three corners have repaired tiny chips. There is a 1/4" tear at the bottom back and an 1/8" tear at the top back, both repaired. The jacket is now in a protective cover. ; 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall
