This book is a lovely book from the Star Series, and within that series is a Young Folks Heroes of History. It follows the travels of Magellan as he made his way around the world. The book is illustrated in black & white, artist unkown. The jacket is red cloth and has a painting on the cover of a candle billowing up; a boy's face appears in a circle surrounded with painted fleur de lis done in green and tan, and below the boy are stacks of books in black and an unfurled scroll in tan, all outlined in black. Lettering is black. The spine has another painting of a boy's head in tan and black, with lettering in silver. All corners are worn, the bottom being more worn; the bottom edge of the boards have shelf wear. The top edge of boards are not as bright as the cover; the spine is sun-lightened. Both spine ends are worn; the bottom has two tiny tears from wear; the top has one (each approximately 1/8"). The front board along the vertical edge has wear, more on the ends and the spine is a bit loose; all pages are intact. 281 pages with an additional 12 pages of advertisements for other books by this and other authors. The frontispiece is present with tissue paper; the tissue has five light brown areas on it, from a very small dot to two less than 1/2" spots. The title page has one, and a small part of another, spot from the tissue. The ffep has the prior owner's name and "78" written in pencil. A page of ads follow. There is a small blue spot on page 5 near the vert. edge, and 3 pages have small tears and/or are missing their upper corners.
