This book involves the contending emotions of a family whose members are bound together by affection, yet who still pursue their individual ways at the expense of one another. They are a family connected with armaments, which has patents on several devices which would prove useful in time of war. It was becoming clear that another war was coming, and the head of the company refused to sell the patents, causing other members of the family to plot to go against his judgment. 496 pages; the binding is red cloth and has a bump on the bottom front. The jacket has some chips and bends along the bottom and has minor wear at the corners. The jacket is too long for the book, hence the bends, but has been properly trimmed and placed in a mylar cover. There are some scratches on the front at the word "The" and a bit of rubbing on the spine, and a light scratch horizontally across the back. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
