Author Name Morgan, Berry Title The Mystic Adventures of Roxie Stoner Binding Hard Bound, Cloth Book Condition Good Jacket Condition Very Good Type Book Publisher New York Houghton Mifflin Company 1974 ISBN 0395194245 / 9780395194249 Seller ID 001076 Winner of a Houghton Mifflin Literary Fellowship Award. This book contains all of the stories of Roxie Stoner that have previously, for the most part, been printed in the New Yorker for several years. Through a unique use of language and extraordinary insight, Berry Morgan succeeds in illuminating the small world of an old, near saintly colored woman (the word "black" had not entered Roxie's vocabulary) and in making that world fascinating and significant. It is Roxie herself who narrates her story, telling it in her own way with a blend of gravity, wonderment, and humor. An ex-library volume, the DJ is covered with acetate and is sun-lightened on the spine. The white cloth cover was in touch with some water and discolored by the blue cloth at the bottom of the spine, and the bottom of some of the pages. The front fep was removed and the book has the usual library stamps. 146 pages, no marks or tears. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
