This is a wonderful read-aloud book, also a book for beginning readers because of the large bold print and the huge illustrations, some spanning two pages. A little boy puts on his monster costume and decides to create some mischief for which he is sent to bed without anything to eat. Before he knows it his room turns into a jungle and an ocean appears with his own private boat. Sailing on and on, he comes to the land of wild things and tames them with magic. They have a wonderful rumpus, then the wild things go to sleep and he begins to be hungry, so he gets back into his own private boat but doesn't know if he'll make it home. ; Color Illustrations; 8vo 8" - 9 3/4" tall; 39 pages
