From the writer who coined the word "cyberspace" comes this fascinating science fiction novel. The entire U. S. Has crumbled due to earthquakes all over. There are squatters making little homes on the Golden Gate Bridge. A young woman, who becomes the main character, is a bicycle messenger who delivers a message to a businessman and he comes on to her in a vulgar way. She leaves, grabbing his sunglasses off his desk, but when she puts them on, they aren't really sunglasses but something that allows her to see into another realm of life. The businessman is killed, and everyone is searching for the glasses. A very cool book! The jacket has, on the front, a 1/2" vertical tear at the bottom and on the back, a horizontal cut about 1 1/2" long. 325 pages, no marks or tears. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
