Thomas was from a very large, but poor, family down South. He was the middle child and decided it was his responsibility to go out and try to earn some money. He walked a good distance and sat down to make his lunch; a man came out of the wood and asked to share, which Thomas did. After they ate the man told him about a haunted house with a buried treasure. One had to stay all night to get it, and so far nobody had. Thomas went to the house and while he made dinner, the ghost began to appear, trying to scare Thomas away. The top and bottom corners are slightly bent. Unpaginated, each page is beautifully illustrated using line and watercolor drawings. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
