Roberta Anderson, a writer, is out in the forest that stretches behind her house looking for firewood. She stumbles upon a piece of metal, over three inches long, that is in the ground like mother-rock. She begins to dig, then a friend comes to help and the more they uncover of what turns out to be a ship, the more things change in their town. The townspeople are being welded into one organic, homicidal, and fearsomely brilliant entitiy as the Tommyknockers are released from the artifact in the woods. The binding has no wear but is a bit cocked. The jacket is bent in along the top and the gold lettering on the front is turning dark (I don't think it came that way! ) . 558 pages, no marks or tears. Price has been clipped. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
