Hunting for Hidden Gold New York Grosset & Dunlap 1928 Hard Cover, Cloth Very Good Very Good 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall This is #5 in the series. The binding is brown with dark brown lettering. Light shelf wear on the bottom edges. There is vertical crease on the front of the binding about covering about 3/4 of the front. Appears to be the cover material only, and not an actual bending of the board. The end papers are orange, 214 pages with no advertisements. There is a slight vertical wrinkle on the back board endpaper - again, appears to be a publisher's error. Some tanning of the pages. The jacket is in a protective cover, and has slight bends to the top corners front and back. Minor wear to the top corners at the flaps. The last book listed is The Secret Panel. | 2. | Dixon, Franklin W. The Crisscross Shadow New York Grosset & Dunlap 1953 Hard Cover Very Good Fair 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall #32 in The Hardy Boys series. The endpapers are orange; the spine is a continuation of the design on the front, with a picture of the boys set in an oval. The last book listed on the inside flap is this one. The binding is light brown with darker brown lettering. It has light edgewear at the bottom boards. The jacket is in a protective cover. It has several chips and smalal tears along the top; the right top is missing from the top end of the 'S' in Boys to the flap. There are several small pieces missing at the spine top, and small chips and tears at the spine bottom. The back top of the jacket has a few tiny tears. The jacket front has two long diagonal tears, repaired, and a diagonal fold along the bottom that is 3/4" at the flap, and goes down to nothing at about the middle of the jacket. The binding is cloth with a 1-tone silhouette on the front. Spine bottom slightly bent. Jacket has a repaired tear down the front (done by me!), tears at the spine top and the top front edge. A small tear at the spine bottom and a small fold beginning at the flap and going about halfway back on the cover. The top back has a few tiny tears, probably shelf wear. | 5. | Dixon, Franklin W. The Secret of the Old Mill New York Grosset & Dunlap 1927 Hard Cover, Cloth Good Good 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall #3 in the Hardy Boys series, later edition. The endpapers are orange, the jacket spine is yellow. Last books listed on the flap is The Melted Coins; on the jacket back is advertised Thrill-Packed Air Combat Stories by three different authors. The binding is brown, with darker brown lettering. Light wear to the corners, medium shelf wear to the bottom edges. There is some wear to the cover, primarily along the back at the gutter to about 1/2" in. There is an area just left to the picture of the two boys on the front that is a bit darker, and looking at it the right way it looks dull; approximately 1/2" wide and 2" long. The jacket has several small chips at the top and bottom, a 3/4" tear along the front gutter and a 1/4" tear along the back gutter, both at the top. There is a 3/4" tear at the bottom back at the flap. 212 pages, tanned, with an additional two pages of ads. One is for The Hardy Boys and lists to The Short Wave Mystery.
