This is a Beginner Book, an I Can Read It All By Myself with the Cat in the Hat within the circle of words. This book, using only 192 different words, is written for children. Because all children love riddles, but younger children have never been able to read them, owing to the words being too difficult, Bennett Cerf put together the very first book of riddles every written with words that a beginning reader can read all by himself. The illustrations are simple but wonderful, and help the child work out some of the words that otherwise might be too difficult. The riddles are funny, definitely for children, but amusing all the same. The binding has one slight bit of wear to the bottom edge. The DJ has a few wrinkles and a small tear at the front bottom. It has been repaired at the spine. There is a repaired tear at the back top of the jacket, about 1" long. The book is 64 pages, each page is rimmed with a different color. The hard binding is pictorial.

A collection of 458 riddles especially fashioned for children from twelve to one hundred and twelve. This is the most complete collection of riddles in over thirty years. It contains all the vintage chestnuts of bygone years, plus scores of brand-new ones, some horrendous, some positively awe-inspiring. Riddle-wise, Mr. Cerf has stopped at nothing. Riddle away! 190 pages; two pages have tiny spots across from each other. The binding is 1/4 cloth; there is a very small spot at the bottom of the cloth gutter. The jacket has a tiny tear at the top left corner, and a small tear at the bottom right corner.
