This Czech-language libretto is in hardcover, and states on the half title page that " (f) or the first time presented by the world's largest Metropolitan Opera Company. 1909 to 1919 in New York . Both the libretto and the music are taken from the national life of the Czech people, including pilgrims, slaves, the regular population and the bride being sold. It was originally performed in 1866 for the Czech public and was Smetana's most popular opera. The cloth is rust colored with a black frame on the front and a pastedown of two women, it appears one is in sorrow. The front corners have a little wear, as do the spine ends. It is sown in and tight; the half title page has some stains on it like water or oil, but the rest of the pages are unmarked. The pages have a blunt crease down the middle which is obvious at the beginning and becomes less so half way through. The front cover has two small light spots and at the spine top there is a small black spot. The title and decoration are still bright. Yu'p; io; 12mo 7" - 7" tall; 32 pages
