As with all encyclopedias it is in alphabetical order and includes first a list of entries. These short writings include information on authors (including a list of books written) , book titles, and essays on book topics (ABC, Elves, Fantasy, Comics and so forth) , and bibliographies with some of the entries. Each entry includes the contributor's name. Volume 4 contains a selected bibliography, awards, Collections of Children's Literature, Topical Outline, Directory of Contributors and an index for the set. This set is a great resource for those of us who tire of looking everything up on the internet; it is also enjoyable to read as you may find interesting topics of which you have little knowledge. Most writings are no longer than a page. Four-volume set is heavy, approximately 7" on your shelves. ; 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall
