3 Bosca, Francesca; Hawthorn, Philip (translated by) Caspar and the Star
0745921205 / 9780745921204; "It's here! The star has arrived!" Shouting and waving, Caspar ran outside, bursting with joy. The star for which he had been waiting for so long was there right overhead - and it was more beautiful and majestic than any star he had ever seen before. All his life Caspar has been watching for one very special star. When it finally appears in the night sky above his tiny house, he can hardly believe it. Gazing at the star in wide-eyed wonder, he is unaware that it will lead him on a quest that will change his life. . . . This is a clever story that looks at the birth of Jesus from the viewpoint of the three wise men searching for the child. Lovely. ; 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall

My Grandmother's Stories: a Collection of Jewish Folk Tales, Geras, Adele
8 Geras, Adele My Grandmother's Stories: a Collection of Jewish Folk Tales
0375822852 / 9780375822858; Grandmother's stories are inspired by simple things in her apartment - a button box, an embroidered shawl, a freshly baked strudel - the ten stories she tells her granddaughter are rooted in Grandmother's Russian Jewish heritage. They are all fascinating and range from ancient Jerusalem to the Russian countryside, and all the way to the mythical village of Chelm, where the Chief Sage keeps his shoes from getting muddy by wearing them - where else? - on his hands. There is a story about a rabbi, one about a ghost bride, even a story about a kvetch who meets an angel. Each is instructive, each is sheer delight. The binding has a bit of wear at the front bottom corner, and there is a tear on the jacket spine bottom, about 1/4". ; 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall

12 Manushkin, Fran The Matzah That Papa Brought Home (Signed)
0590471465 / 9780590471466; INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR - In exuberant verse brimming with the delights of the Passover holiday, the ago-old traditions that have been handed down through the generations now come vividly to life. From relatives gathering to reenact the story of Exodus, to enjoying the festive meal, and finally, to sharing the hopeful cries of "NEXT YEAR IN JERUSALEM!", this rhythmic tale conveys all of the warmth and richness of a most cherished family celebration. This big, beautiful book tells a classic Christmas story in a wonderful way. The paintings that illustrate this book are simple but done in jewel colors. A CD is included, recorded by Peter, Paul and Mary. Three songs are included: The Night Before Christmas, Christmas Eve With Mary (narrative version of The Night Before Christmas) , and A' Soalin. 0679817891 / 9780679817895; This is a story that will resonate with many families this Christmas. Can Christmas be the same without Daddy? He's a soldier in faraway Japan this year, so his two young children and their mother prepare for the holiday as they've always done, except that they mail Daddy's presents to him in Japan. Then they receive a large wooden box, marked "Do Not Open Until Christmas. " And while a wooden box can't take Daddy's place, it holds its own promise for an unforgettable Christmas.
