Tell Me, Tell Me Granite, Steel, and Other Topics; New Poems and Prose, Moore, Marianne
2 Moore, Marianne Tell Me, Tell Me Granite, Steel, and Other Topics; New Poems and Prose
Whether writing of the "Granite and Steel" of the Brooklyn Bridge, or of "metaphysical new mown hay" in her famous apostrophe (in the title poem) to Beatrix Potter's Tailor of Gloucester, Marianne Moore is always, inimitably, the poet of particulars. The range of her curiosity and imaginative attention extends, in this new collection of verse interspersed with prose, from baseball players to ballet dancers, from a polo pony named Blue Bug to a talented crow called Pluto, to Yul Brynner in a camp for refugees, and from downright precepts for moral behavior to eloquent reflections on the poet's craft. Eighteen poems and four prose pieces are included and all but six appear here for the first time. 57 pages including notes. The binding is beautiful paper with 1/4 cloth spine. The jacket has light edge wear at the top. 6" x 9 1/2" tall
