1567921647 / 9781567921649; Walter de la Mare's retelling of The Turnip, originally a tale from the Brothers Grimm, is not only an improvement over the original, but a real work of art in its own right. She didn't wake up until the bears were back and into the bedroom - at that point she jumped up, ran out of the house, and was never seen again by the bears. There is a horizontal crease on the cover; all of the inside pages are very shiny and well-illustrated. A great book for a toddler to hold onto. 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall.

14 Housman, Laurence Moonlight & Fairyland
0224014161 / 9780224014168; Moonlight and Fairyland is a timeless collection of stories, dating from 1894, by the author of Victoria Regina. It is a world of enchantment where the most spectacular things happen all the time. A terrible dream is reason enough to transform the nine daughters of a poor forester into peahens on the advice of a Royal Family fairy. A magical pair of shoes helps a young man discover why the sleek golden hair of twelve fair princesses mysteriously disappears in the night. To win the heart of a princess, a ploughboy is changed in the palace garden in the hope that the princess will touch him with her lips. Now charmingly illustrated with new color drawings by an exceptionally fine and original young artist, they are back in print again. These stories are a very special pleasure to read or tell. 128 pages, the illustrations are truly amazing, with deep and bright colors used. The black cloth cover is worn through at the point of the bottom front corner. The spine ends are bent in. The page tops are stained blue, and there are small spots on the page bottoms and sides that at times come through to the page. The jacket is worn at the spine ends, with a small piece missing at the head. There is a 1/2" tear at the top front, and a 1/8" tear at the top back. There is a 1/8" tear at the top back along with some folds, and a tiny tear at the bottom back near the spine. Two small closed tears are at the front, about 1/3 of the way down near the spine, along with two pin holes. The jacket is beautifully illustrated and in a protective cover. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
