3 Horwich, Dr. Frances R. ; Werrenrath, Jr. , Reinald Miss Frances' Ding Dong School Book
A150150 - Remember Ding Dong School? Here's one of the books that survived that certain era when we were all entertained by this show. This book includes many different ways for children to entertain themselves, and it is suggested that this book be read to them. All kinds of activities are included, such as water play, papier-mache, planting pumpkin seeds, play with pipe cleaners, building with blocks, a doll party, the coal truck, working at the easel, and so much more. All are illustrated and in an easy-to-read font. On the ffep is an old ink stamp from a grade school, and on the paste-down opposite is a bit of glue left from removing a pocket. The binding has light to moderate wear on the spine head and tail, and on the corners. The pictorial cover is bright with children playing against an orange background with a lighter spot about half-way down near the gutter. ; 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall

0689501668 / 9780689501661; This wonderful book is illustrated with watercolors. Three soldiers, returning from the hard-fought wars, were down on their luck. They had very little money and no prospects for jobs. But, because of their kindness to a small, ugly man who comes to their forest campfire one night, these three soldiers are each rewarded with a special gift. The jacket is in a protective cover and is price clipped. There is a library label on the jacket spine, and a library pocket on the back free end page. There is a small stamp on the inside back cover and the title page; a name is printed in red marker on the inside front cover (the endpapers are dark red). 7 Paterson, Katherine The Wide-Awake Princess - Signed
0395537770 / 9780395537770; INSCRIBED BY AUTHOR - This is a beautifully-illustrated book about a lovely princess. Her parents, who were quite self-absorbed, died when she was a child. She was born with a gift, though, the gift of being wide awake while the others in the kingdom snoozed their days away. So when she was told she was not fit to rule the kingdom by three noblemen, she set off to meet the people of the kingdom in hopes that she might learn to be a good queen. The wide-awake princess saw the state of the peasants: They were starving while the greedy nobles lived in selfish luxury. The princess, also quite clever, taught the peasants in her country how to make better lives for themselves. A wonderful read-aloud book that children will enjoy. The jacket has a few wrinkles in it, and is in a protective cover. Inscribed on the title page. ; 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall; Signed by Author(s)

8 Pine, Robert M. Paula's Poetry Picnic (Signed)
Penned by a local author, this is a wonderful story of friendship, nature, and creativity. Paula has invited three good friends on a picnic. Each writes and enjoys poetry, and they gather at the picnic to share their friendship, sandwiches, but most of all, their poems. Some of them are clever and the others try to figure out what is meant by a particular passage, but all poems are discussed by the cozy group. This is a great book to introduce children to poetry as it also has a story of friendship that winds through the poems. Includes an index of poems by page and title. The author will inscribe the book to the person for whom it is purchased, if desired. ; 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall; Signed by Author(s)

10 Repchuck, Caroline (edited by) Classic Spooky Stories
1840849916 / 9781840849912; This book is "A haunting collection of ghostly tales and creepy rhymes. " Great fun for children, and a good book to read aloud because of the wonderful illustrations throughout. The type is smaller than a young child could read, but certainly the stories will be enjoyed by them as well. The corners are completely worn through to the board beneath; that is the only wear on the book. Unpaginated, about 200 pages.; 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall
