1 Buck, Pearl S. Pearl Buck's America
0877940290 / 9780877940296; This was quite an endeavor that Pearl Buck took on - to see and write about every state. She says "This book is a personal communication between my country and me. I did not know my country until half my life had gone. Then with adult mind and willing heart, I came here to live. All was new, all was wonderful, nearly all was beautiful. We Americans have more than our share of the world's wonders. It would be impossible for me to write of all there is to see. I have only written of what I myself have seen and felt about my country. " with a key to color photographs, most are black & white. The bottom corners are slightly bent in. The spine ends are turned in a bit with light wear.

3 Karras, A. L. North to Cree Lake
0671270710 / 9780671270711; In the autumn of 1932, two young brothers left the comfort of home to spend the next seven winters deep in the wilds of northern Saskatchewan as professional trappers. They decided to escape civilization on one of the few remaining frontiers, the Old North, when it was still a land of mystery and deep silences. This is the story of men who vanished into the bush in late summer and were not seen or heard from again until the following spring; of their successes and failures, of triumph and despair, and of such peace as cannot be found "outside," as the trappers termed civilization. The narrative has a strong thread of nostalgia which brings to one a sense of urgency about protecting whatever is left of our environment. The author writes with an intimate knowledge of his subject as he shares his love for the wilderness. The book is bound in light brown with a dark brown moose head on the front. Lettering is in brown and gold on the spine. The book has light bends at the spine ends. The jacket at the spine top has a 1" tear and some creasing; the spine bottom is creased a bit with tiny tears on each side. There are a few minor chips (one front, one back) and wear at the spine front and back. The jacket is now in a mylar cover. The illustrations are very detailed and beautiful. ; B&W Illustrations; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 256 pages
