0670400114 / 9780670400119; This is a reprint of a pop-up book published in 1887 by J. F. Schreiber of Esslingen, Germany. An original first edition is in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. This is a wonderful book that unfolds to reveal six scenes featuring exciting circus acts from around the world. The daredevil riders and their horses, the acrobats and clowns, the circus orchestra are all included in this three-dimensional spectacular. Complete, everything works on each panel. Several of the acts involve horses. Behind the panels is the story of the book, and one side describes each of the six scenes. Truly impressive. The top of the back has a bit of edge wear and part of the corner is curled down.
