Utterly bereft and no longer abe to take consolation from the things that once absorbed here, she cleans out her savings acount, trades in her sensible car for a 1950 Chevy Futura, and heads cross-country without a word to anyone. Inspired by her newfound anonymity, she begins to cultivate a whole alien personality, writing with her other hand, taking her coffee black, and buying an abandoned grocery cart of odd-looking canned foods. She lands on an island near Canada and as the months go by and she watches the seasons change in solitude, she is unable to deny her truest self. She finally accepts her loss, and sees that her search for amnesia has brought her full circle. 184 pages.
