Hargrove, Marion; Anderson, Maxwell (foreword by) See Here, Private Hargrove Private Marion Hargrove approaches life from a number of angles peculiarly his own. He approached the United States Army in the same way. Sergeants who served over Hargrove testify in the pages of this book about what happened to him, and to the Army, when he joined in response to a letter from Washington which began "The President of the United States to Marion Hargrove. Greetings. . ." As the delighted reader begins to discover the Army through Hargrove's eyes, and Hargrove through the Army's, one realizes that there is, after all, a certain amount of excuse for sergeants. With high good humor, and a zest for the experience as a whole, here is written something different from any previous writing about the military life. The front top corner is lightly worn, and a prior owner's name is written on the ffep and title page. The jacket is missing a 1" x 2" area at the top corner, a 1/2" x 1/2" area at the bottom left, and pieces of the top and bottom spine. A 1/4" x 1" piece is missing from the bottom front, and all corners are quite worn (jacket). The front flap has a flower sticker on it where the price might have been - it has been clipped. Most interesting is a message from the author on the back, encouraging readers to buy war stamps and bonds. Jacket is in a protective cover. Henry Holt And Co.
