One day Sagwa was napping in the Foolish Magistrate's study. From her perch high on a bookshelf, she heard the newest rule: No singing until the sun goes down. A terrible rule, Sagwa thought. After the Foolish Magistrate left the study, Sagwa jumped down from her perch and landed right in the ink pot! Sagwa was instantly covered with black ink and she rubbed her nose on the new rule, blotting out the word NOT. Now it ordered the people to sing all day - until the sun went down. The people were thrilled with this new rule and raised their voices in song, praising the Foolish Magistrate for thinking of them. From that day on, he was a wise magistrate. The jacket has light bends at the corners and spine ends, and a tiny nick on the spine. Jacket is in a protective cover.

This is an engrossing story that begins in modern day America, when Ying-ying hears her granddaughters talk about their wishes on a rainy afternoon with nothing to do. Thinking back to a time when she had many wishes too, Ying-ying tells them a story about the Moon Festival from her childhood in China. Unpaginated, every other page is a full-color illustration describing the story, and there are small illustrations on the text pages also. The book is inscribed Happy Birthday! without any name. The binding is red cloth with a gold imprint and title on the front. There are two small lighter spots on the front. The price is clipped on the jacket, and has a repaired 1" tear at the bottom front. There is light shelf wear on the top and bottom edges, and slight bends at the corners. There is also a repaired 3/4" tear at the top back. The jacket is wrinkled on the top half, front and back. The illustrations are enchanting and very colorful.
